Women suffering from ovarian cysts are more concerned about the risks and complications of ovarian cysts, rather than for the disease itself. These concerns are not ill founded as ovarian cysts can cause many upheavals in the life of a woman because of the resulting complications. In order to avoid these complications and to seek appropriate treatment, an understanding of the risks and complications associated with ovarian cysts is essential.
Understanding ovarian cysts:
Ovarian cysts are fluid filled sacks, which are formed within the ovary. Cysts, which are bigger than two centimeters, are formally diagnosed as ovarian cysts. Many ovarian cysts are functional in nature. That is, they are beginning and rarely ever cause complications. However in some cases, the cysts may develop certain complications. Risks and complications of ovarian cysts depend on the type of cyst and the stage of treatment. Some types of risks complications, which are associated with ovarian cysts, include the following.
1. Ruptured ovarian cyst: This is one the most serious form of complication. Ruptured ovarian cyst can lead to internal bleeding and in some cases it can be very dangerous. Ruptured ovarian cyst can cause hemorrhage, which requires immediate medical attention.
2. Ovarian torsion: Sometimes, there is also twisting of the ovary, which can lead to infertility. Ovarian torsion may disturb blood supply to the ovary as well. This leads to another complication called as ovarian necrosis, which leads inflammation and septic shock
3. Peritonitis: Peritonitis is the inflammation of the mucus membrane. As this membrane lines the abdomen cavity, it can cause excruciating pain and in some cases the resulting complications can be life threatening.
4. Infertility: Infertility caused by ovarian cysts can be temporary or permanent depending upon the extent of the damage. Hence, women suffering from ovarian cysts and those desirous of starting a family should take ovarian cysts really seriously.
5. Cancer: In rare but significant instances, ovarian cysts may even turn cancerous. The patient will then require the usual cancer treatment along with surgery, where generally both the ovaries are removed.
Besides these serious complications and risks, ovarian cysts also lead to excruciating pain and hormonal imbalance. This can affect the mental and emotional well being of the patient as well. However, conventional medicine very rarely pays attention to the mental and emotional complications that may develop because of ovarian cysts. The treatment options can cause many side effects like loss of fertility, weight gain, and reoccurrence of stronger cysts. Therefore, many women find it difficult to cope with the demands of the conventional treatment, which can worsen an already difficult condition.
Hence, to overcome the risks and complications of ovarian cysts along with the disease, you will need a, more comprehensive and holistic approach. Holistic approach is very effective as it treats the root cause of the condition and not the symptoms. Symptoms are attractive propositions to treat as relief in symptoms give a false sense of security. However, holistic approach shatters this conventional thinking by clearly eliminating the root cause. Therefore, holistic approach can not only treat ovarian cysts, but can also prevent the risks and complications of ovarian cysts in the bargain.

Disadvantages and Side Effects of The Conventional Medical Approach To Treating Ovarian Cysts
Ovarian cyst has become a common gynecological problem. However, this condition is very traumatic for women who have to undergo conventional medical treatment for getting relief from this chronic disease. The conventional medicine approach to ovarian cysts is the most common approach, which is used when treating this disease. However, the limited treatment options and the resulting stress can also be too much for a woman to handle. Therefore, more and more women are turning towards alternate forms of treatments for curing ovarian cysts.
Understanding conventional medicinal approach:
Conventional medicine approach to ovarian cysts is very simple and straightforward. There are three stages involved in conventional treatment of ovarian cysts.
- Understanding the symptoms: There are certain textbook symptoms of ovarian cysts condition, which include irregular menstruation, pelvic pain, infertility, and more. The patients are asked to keep a tab on these symptoms so that the condition can be diagnosed as soon as possible. However, sometimes, ovarian cysts do not give rise to any symptom. Hence, they can be discovered accidentally during routine gynecological examination.
- Diagnosing ovarian cysts: There are different ways of diagnosing ovarian cysts. Besides understanding the symptoms of the condition, the practitioner will also make use of Endovaginal ultrasound, CT scanning, blood test, Laproscopy and many other forms of tests to confirm his suspicions. Like the treatment, the diagnosis stage of the treatment can be equally traumatic.
- Treatment: The treatment for ovarian cysts will depend upon the type of the cyst and its nature. If the cyst is benign, little or no treatment is required. However, in the case of serious condition, conventional medicine will recommended the following forms of treatment
- Birth control pills: Birth control pills stop ovulation. They therefore repress ovarian cysts. They can also reduce the size of the follicles and help in reducing the size of the existing cysts.
- Surgery: If the cysts are cancerous or if there are any other complications, then surgery is recommended. Surgery will again depend upon the type of cyst and the resulting complications. Sometimes, only the cyst is removed. However, it is not very uncommon to remove the ovaries to get rid of the cyst.
Disadvantage and side effects of treatment:
There are many disadvantages and side effects of conventional medicine approach to ovarian cysts. Birth control pills can cause prolonged infertility, even when the treatment is discarded. Also, the conventional treatment does not fully cure ovarian cysts and the surgery may also increase the chances of ovarian cysts in the long run. Hence, conventional medication is not considered to be an appropriate form of treatment for ovarian cysts. As the disease is very complex, a multidimensional approach is required to deal with the disease. This is provided only by the holistic approach.
Unlike conventional medicine, holistic approach targets the root causes of the disease and not the symptoms. Hence, holistic approach can cure ovarian cysts completely and can provide long-term relief, a task at which conventional wisdom shows its limitations. Therefore, when it comes to curing ovarian cysts, holistic approach is the best form of treatment.

Ovarian cyst is a collection of fluids, which is surrounded by a slender wall within the ovary.
Ovarian cysts raise concern among many women, especially in childbearing age. While a majority of the ovarian cysts are simply functional in nature, some ovarian cysts can turn out to be cancerous.
As the first step of correctly diagnosing and treating ovarian cysts is to locate the cause of the disease, it is essential to understand the possible causes of ovarian cysts. However, there is no single cause of ovarian cysts. Ovarian cyst can be triggered by a variety of primary factors and secondary factors. It is imperative to understand these different factors in order to seek appropriate treatment.
Primary factors of ovarian cysts:
There are many primary factors, which lead to ovarian cysts. These factors should not be isolated however, as sometimes the combination of these factors can together lead to the causes of ovarian cysts.
- Genetic predisposition: Genetic predisposition is often considered to be the primary cause of ovarian cyst as research has shown that the genetic pattern of women who suffer from this chronic condition is different as compared to women who never get ovarian cysts or PCOS. However, this should not be a death warrant as many times the genetic characteristics can be modified with the help of environmental factors and proper lifestyle related changes.
- Poor dietary choices: Different types of food including the ones rich in carbohydrates, junk food toxic food and acidic food can bring about hormonal imbalance and can weaken your immune system making you more vulnerable to ovarian cyst. Similarly diet rich in sugar and low on fresh vegetables can make the task of flushing out toxins difficult thereby aggravating ovarian cyst problem.
- Weak immune system: A weak immune system invites trouble, as it is not able to put up a natural fight against ovarian cyst triggers. Many factors including dietary factors and sleep deprivation can lead to weakened immune system.
- Insulin resistance: High level of insulin can stimulate ovarian androgen production, which leads to the production of male hormones. This reduces the serum sex-hormone binding globulin or SHGB. The SHBG can in turn aggravate the ovarian cyst condition to quite an extent.
- Failed ovulation process: Sometimes, the ovaries fail to release egg on a monthly basis. This fails to produce progesterone and brings about hormonal imbalance. This can then lead to the formation of ovarian cysts.
Besides the above primary factors, toxins in liver and even environmental toxins can aggravate ovarian cysts. Hence, ovarian cyst condition is not a simple one to understand or treat. Conventional wisdom blinded by hackneyed forms of treatment cannot treat and cure ovarian cysts. To treat this complex disease, a multidimensional view adopted by the holistic approach is needed.
Holistic approach is also effective as it deals with a variety of factors and manages to find out the root cause of the disease. Then, systematically with a comprehensive method, the practitioner can help you bring about many lifestyle changes, which can aid in treatment. Hence, when it comes to curing ovarian cyst, a holistic approach is required to understand the causes of ovarian cysts and to treat this condition in a scientific and holistic manner.

Itching inside the vagina or around the folds of the skin outside the vagina (vulva) maybe uncomfortable and embarrassing during the day and make it difficult for you to sleep at night. The area may be dry, red and swollen and you may have a stinging sensation when you pass urine and, or discomfort during sex. Symptoms are usually worse in hot weather.
Genital irritation is often a reaction to soaps and perfumes in toiletries, but can also be due to an infection, another skin condition, or to not drying yourself properly after using the toilet.
See Your Doctor If:
- You have a discharge, or pain passing urine
- You have itching elsewhere and/or have a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis
- You are losing weight without trying and/or, are drinking or urinating more than usual
- You have black specks in your pubic hair
- Irritation persists for more than 3-4 days after treating yourself at home.
There are three main drug remedies which are used in treating genital irritation:
- Moisturizers - such as aqueous cream and emulsifying ointment soothe irritated skin. Apply it to your vulva about 3 times a day and use it as a substitute for soap when washing.
- Antihistamines - such as clarityn allergy, nytol, etc. are used to relieve itching. A sedative antihistamine taken at bedtime, will also make it easier for you to sleep.
- Vaginal Lubricants - will help to make sexual intercourse more comfortable. Use the lubricant if your vagina feels dry or sore during sex.
Use a cold compress. Wrap a pack of frozen peas or crushed ice in a wet towel, or soak a face cloth in cold water, then wring it out. Apply it gently to your vulva as often as needed. You could also sit in shallow cool or lukewarm bath for 10 - 15 minutes.
Resist the urge to scratch your vulva. In bed, wear a nightgown without underwear to let the air circulate around your genital area.
You can help prevent genital irritation by avoiding possible triggers and taking extra care with personal hygiene.
- Do not use perfumed soaps, bubble baths, vaginal deodorants, or douches.
- Wash your genital area once or twice a day with plain warm water or an unperfumed soap. Pat dry yourself with a soft towel or use a hairdryer on cool setting for a few seconds.
- Put your laundry through an extra rinse and don't use fabric softeners.
- Wipe yourself from front to back after a bowel movement and dry yourself thoroughly after passing urine. Use soft, unbleached, uncoloured, toilet paper.
- Ask your partner to use hypoallergenic condoms rather than those quoted with a spermicide.
- Don't use deodorized sanitary pads or panty liners.
- Wear comfortable cotton underwear and change it daily. Choose tights with a cotton gusset, or stockings.
- Don't wear tight fitting jeans.
- Change out of your swimsuit promptly after a swim.
A few posts ago I brought you a 5 part series called Man Talk. I promised the ladies that their turn would be coming up shortly. Being one to keep my promises...Here is the series that will run for 10 -12 posts.
Gentlemen you are welcome to sit in on these sessions...after all...knowledge is power.
Lets get started.
Vaginal Discharge
It is normal for a woman to have some discharge from the vagina. This is clear or white, the amount and consistency varying at different times in the menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, and in response to sexual arousal.
However, a discharge that has an unusual consistency or smell is usually a sign of infection.
The most common cause is thrush, a yeast infection that produces a discharge like cottage cheese, irritation in, or around the vagina and sometimes a burning sensation when you pass urine.
Yeast infection is not usually sexually transmitted. It is caused by factors that encourage overgrowth of yeast, such as:
- taking antibiotics
- wearing tight-fitting clothes
- using vaginal douches and deodorants.
If you believe this is the case or if:
- the discharge has blood stains, is greenish yellow or very foul smelling, or
- you have lower abdominal pain and fever or other symptoms, or
- you have repeated abnormal discharges or
- you are pregnant.
O.k, so you are sure that it is none of the above, in that case let me tell you how to treat yourself for yeast infection. You will need to start the treatment as soon as you notice any symptoms.
Sodium Bicarbonate also known as Baking Soda
To relieve itchiness and discomfort or soothe soreness and irritation, add 2 tablespoonfuls to a lukewarm, shallow bath and soak for about 20 minutes.
Un-perfumed soap
Use only water and un-perfumed soap on your genitals and be sure to rinse and dry well after bathing. If you are having a period, use only sanitary pads, no tampons at this time and be sure to change at least every 4 hours.
Garlic
Garlic is a big enemy of yeast, Oh yes. You can almost get immediate relief from the itching cause by yeast infection, by inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina every few hours as required for soothing relief.
Yoghurt
Live yoghurt is more than a dessert or snack it contains bacteria that help to fight yeast infection. Be sure to use un-sugared yoghurt as sugar will only make the infection worse. Rub the yoghurt on the outside of your vagina and put some in the top of a tampon applicator, then insert the tampon into the vagina and remove it an hour later.
So, now you know how to treat yourself for yeast infection. However if you would like to get rid of yeast infection for good, Guaranteed. Click Here!
To start off, lets understand what Yeast Infection actually is. The scientific term for Yeast Infection is Candidiasis, though due to slang it has adopted the name Yeast Infection and "thrush". Because of the nature of candidiasis, the severity of the condition ranges from simple cosmetic blemishes to life-threatening diseases. However, the general victims of Yeast Infections usually suffer from inflammation and discomfort in the region.
So, what exactly causes yeast infections? Yeast infection is contagious, and can be caused by vaginal exposure to some external substances. Some common causes are detergents or douches, or built up lactic acid. To simplify that, keep things away from that area that shouldn't be there.
There are four widely-accepted ways to treat yeast infections naturally. They are:
1.Yogurt.
Yogurt is a natural enemy of yeast. It can be eaten or applied to the vagina with a tampon that has been dipped in yogurt. Be sure to use a plain and un-sugared yogurt as sugar will only make the infection worse. As an alternative to the tampon, you can rub the yogurt on the outside of your vagina.
2.Garlic.
Yes, garlic is a big enemy of yeast. You can actually get almost immediate relief from yeast infection itching by inserting a garlic tab or clove into the vagina every few hours as required for soothing relief.
3.Apple-cider vinegar.
This, too, can be either taken internally or used externally. If you choose to use it externally, do not apply it to your vagina in full strength. It will burn like you can't believe. Instead, add a cup of it to your bathwater and then take a nice, long bath. And do not use white vinegar as it will actually feed the yeast.
4. .Oil of oregano.
This herb is seriously potent against yeast. Take it internally, daily, according to directions. Be sure the oregano oil you choose has a high carvacrol content as this is the active ingredient that will help cure the infection.
Now, it is important that you find the right cure. Personally, I recommend Yeast Infection Secret, because this company sells almost the exact same medicine as normal hospitals, but for one third of the price. Not to mention that you can have additional help through customer service, while to get a follow up at the doctors it would cost you a lot for a little time.
